The Kyo-ya Hotels Foundation

Building Stronger Communities Together

In the wake of the Maui wildfires, we established the Kyo-ya Hotels Foundation to support our Kyo-ya ‘Ohana and their families in times of need. Since then, our efforts have grown to include awarding grants, providing scholarships (starting in 2026), and organizing volunteer initiatives—all part of our enduring commitment to nurture the land, people and culture in our communities.

Established in 2023, the foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that complements charitable giving by Kyo-ya Hotels, a tradition that began more than 60 years ago.

Our Legacy, Our Future

As a family-owned company with a proud legacy of stewardship of historic hotels, Kyo-ya Hotels is deeply rooted in a tradition of care across generations. The Kyo-ya Hotels Foundation adds to this tradition by supporting community programs that focus on social services, the environment, youth sports, science, education, and the arts.

Our Mission

To support Kyo-ya Hotels employees and their families, and to accelerate programs and partnerships that enhance the overall well-being of our communities.

Our Giving in Action

The Kyo-ya Hotels Foundation raises funds with our friends and business partners, who share our commitment to strengthening our communities. The foundation provides grants to local nonprofits—selected with input from our Kyo-ya ‘Ohana—to ensure that the causes we champion reflect the values and priorities of our ʻohana. These contributions are amplified by hands-on involvement of Kyo-ya associates who regularly volunteer their time and talents. Beginning in 2026, the foundation will also offer scholarships to help Kyo-ya ‘Ohana dependents pursue their educational goals.
